John Winker
John Winker
Prior to establishing Tech Terrace Real Estate, John Winker was primarily involved in the valuation of commercial real estate on a national basis.
Upon receiving his BBA (finance major) from Texas Tech University in 1985, John moved to Dallas and worked as a commercial fee appraiser for 4 ½ years. With a few exceptions on each coast, most work was in the southwest (primarily D/FW metroplex). Subsequently, John became employed as a bank review appraiser and shortly thereafter he opened up his own shop in Dallas as a sole practitioner providing commercial appraisal review and consulting services on a nationwide basis. Along the way John earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and worked on commercial review & consulting assignments throughout the northeast, Florida and California. Eventually, John moved to Newport Beach, California and maintained his offices there. John had one last employment stint holding a Vice President position as a Chief Appraiser at a $64 billion holding company (10th largest bank holding company at the time on the other side of the USA).
Although the 10 years of experience were invaluable, John was thrilled to have survived and escaped corporate America and returned to Lubbock. Over the years John has bought, sold, managed, updated, remodeled, added to, and appraised numerous homes in Lubbock.
Well that’s the fancy stuff. John considers work a blessing and places huge value on the not so fancy work he did as a youth including several years of mowing lawns, several years delivering newspapers, washing boats, and working as a day laborer. A lot of life lessons were also learned on the soccer field, football field, and around the track.
John is married to, and is still dating, his high school sweetheart that he met in 1978.

Ross Winker
Ross Winker
Ross graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Not only did Ross complete his 4-year degree in half the time, but while maintaining full class loads he also worked a variety of jobs (sandwich shop, fitness club, lawn mowing business). During his final year of college he worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a Transportation Security Officer at Lubbock’s Preston Smith International Airport. Upon graduation he continued his duties with the Federal government for 3 more years. While working with the government, Ross earned his real estate license, cut his government job back to 20 hours per week and made a successful transition to the real estate business which has been his full time focus since 2015.
Ross credits his work ethic to an upbringing that started with listening to his parents talk business all the time, watching his dad spend hours shopping at the local home improvement centers, and checking on properties. His financial earnings started at age 14 refereeing little league soccer games, mowing lawns at age 15, and working retail at Abercrombie during high school. Additional life lessons were learned on the soccer and football fields. Property management is hard work. Ross grew up in Lubbock, and knows hard work, and has the experience and connections to get things done. Need a property manager?
